The Gourmet Warehouse is delighted to announce the second annual Chocolate Challenge in association with world-class chocolatiers Cacao Barry and Callebaut. The mouth-watering competition will be helping to sweeten up the lives of local children in the Downtown Eastside by raising funds for the Strathcona Community Centre Backpack Program, which delivers backpacks of food to deserving children on weekends.
The Chocolate Challenge has been set and the search is on for the culinary stars of tomorrow to create a winning delectable chocolate dessert that will be worthy of a grand product prize of $1000, a second product prize worth $750 and a third prize of $500 all in products from the Gourmet Warehouse.
Entries for the Home Cook and Culinary Student categories must be received by September 19th, 2013 and recipes will be judged by Cactus Club’s food visionary Chef Rob Feenie, renowned pastry chef Thomas Haas and chocolatier and Cocoa Barry Brand Ambassador Greg Hook.
The deadline for entries is September 19th, 2013 and winners of the Chocolate Challenge will be announced at the Grand Finale event on October 10th, 2013. Global TV News anchor Jill Krop will MC the foodie event and there will be plenty of chocolate indulgence throughout the evening, as well as a wine bar and tasting stations featuring fine foods such as New York’s Rao’s specialty sauces, Sable & Rosenfeld’s gourmet foods and pulled pork from Albertan barbecue master ‘Rockin’ Ronnie Shewchuk.
