In its sixth year, the Fraser Valley Food Show on October 4, 5and 6, 2013 celebrates its biggest year ever with the 2nd annual Great Canadian Sausage Making Competition, 11th annual Master Chef Competition, first ever Gluten Free Living Show, and the Lower Mainland’s favourite food personalities.

At the inaugural Great Canadian Sausage Making CompetitionViktor Kozak of Sedo’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop & Deli was named the Professional Division winner for his Salami, and Robin Brooks of Dressed to Grill Gourmet Meat & Poultry took home the People’s Choice Award for their Kielbasa. On Saturday, October 5, dozens of professional sausage makers from all over B.C. will offer a total of over 100 sausage entries in 12 different categories,  ranging from chorizo to bratwurst. The first 500 visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the People’s Choice Award sampling of the competitors’ sausages at 11:30am, with a glass of Erdinger gluten-free beer to wash it down. There is a nominal fee of four tasting tickets or $2.00 cash to participate in the tasting program. (Beer is served only to adults 19 years and older).

Executive Chef William Tse cooked his way to the top in last year’s Master Chef Competition, hosted by the B.C. Chefs Association. Chef Tse pulled off a surprise appetizer course in addition to entrée in the final cook-off round. At the 11th annual Iron Chef-style competition, Tse will defend his title against 16 other competitors in this gruelling black box competition.

Fresh from his latest cookbook, Rob Feenie’s Casual Classics, and the new Coal Harbour location of Cactus Club Cafe, Executive Chef Rob Feenie will delight attendees on theCelebrity Cooking Stage on Friday and SaturdayOctober 4 and 5 with his latest culinary creations, always  bringing out the best in Fraser Valley ingredients.

Catering to the increasing number of attendees interested in gluten-free eating, the Fraser Valley Food Show introduces the first Gluten Free Living Show, which will highlight gluten-free products from manufacturers and a wide range of food producers. Guests can discover, taste, learn from, and buy these hard-to-find items.

Attendees will enjoy offerings from over 100 food and beverage exhibitors, and participate in the other featured areas:

More than 15,000 visitors are expected to attend the show over the three-day weekend at the Tradex Trade and Exhibition Centre, 1190 Cornell Street, Abbotsford, B.C., V2T 6H5. Tickets are $7 for adults online.
