De Dutch Pannekoek House Restaurants Inc. is delighted to announce the opening of its newest location in South Surrey, British Columbia in the Grandview Corners Shopping Mall (160th Street and 24th Avenue).  This new restaurant marks the first of several more scheduled to open this year and is reason for the popular restaurant franchise to celebrate!

De Dutch President Bill Waring states, “We are so pleased to start the string of this year’s new restaurant openings with our new location in the South Surrey area which is a young, vibrant community experiencing such positive and steady growth.  Our franchisee for this location, Michelle Kendall has been part of the De Dutch family for a couple of years already as one of the managers at the restaurant located in Strawberry Hill, Surrey, BC.  As a young and energetic resident of Surrey with experience and pride in the De Dutch system, it was simply natural for her to expand her interest in De Dutch as a franchisee of the newest restaurant located in her neighbourhood.”

The Grandview Corners location officially opened on February 12th and Michelle Kendall is thrilled with the experience so far explaining, “We received such a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the community when we first opened our doors for business – in fact, even before we were officially open for business and building our restaurant.  I am just so pleased and touched.”  She adds, “The process of opening a new restaurant has most certainly been challenging with a lot of hard work and long hours but the whole De Dutch team and system provided a foundation of support, guidance and encouragement all along the way that has given me confidence as a new business woman to go all the way with this new venture.”

The new De Dutch is located in the Grandview Corners Shopping Mall beside Hallmark Cards at Unit 10 – 2433 161A Street Surrey, BC, phone: 604.531.8111.  It is open every day from 6:30 am to 4:00 pm featuring 60 seats inside the restaurant and a patio with 12 seats which will open in May.  While reservations are not accepted, guests can contact Michelle Kendall directly to make special bookings for large parties.

Sales for the De Dutch system have shown growth in BC since the franchise was founded in 1975 and even with the economic challenges of the past year, current members of the franchise are optimistic of solid growth in the future leading to their increased investment in the franchise.  The next new De Dutch restaurant located on West 2nd Avenue and Yukon in Vancouver, BC is scheduled to open in the spring by award-winning De Dutch franchisees Alan and Delene George.

The thirty-five year old De Dutch franchise with 19 locations in BC’s Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Fraser Valley, Okanagan, and Cariboo has successfully carved a niche in the competitive food service industry. While offering dinner at its Strawberry Hill location, De Dutch Pannekoek House specializes in breakfast, brunch and lunch, offering their customers a unique blend of European ethnicity in its menu items. The Pannekoek, a 12″ in diameter Dutch-style pancake, is their signature dish and continues to draw loyal customers.
