FROM DAWN TO DUSK: FAIRMONT HOTEL VANCOUVER UNVEILS LUNAR NEW YEAR WITH IMMERSIVE AFTERNOON TEA, NEW EVENING LOUNGE CONCEPT
The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has introduced Lunar New Year at the Castle, with the return of Notch8’s immersive Themed Afternoon Tea and the debut of an evening lounge concept, Moonlight Lounge, inspired by The Year of the Dragon.
With the room design by Koncept Designs, the salon has been brought to life as a sensory setting and the backdrop for a fully immersive experience from day to night. Notch8 Executive Chef Danai Hongwanishkuhl’s Lunar New Year Afternoon Tea menu will be available for $69.00 per person ($34.50 for children 12 and under), and begins with a selection of LOT 35 Tea and specialty teas for the occasion, along with sweet and savoury bites such as Chilled Char Siu Pork Belly with apple and pork floss, Duck Confit with scallion pancake and apricot “duck sauce”, Shrimp + Egg Tart with Nappa and mala chilli oil, Curry Puff with chickpea keema, Dragon Ball Cream Puff, Black Sesame Macaron, Opera Cake with matcha and red bean paste, a special red envelope with chocolate coins, and more.
As the sun sets, guests are invited to visit the newly introduced Moonlight Lounge to indulge in dim sum, light bites and desserts, complemented by a menu of Lunar New Year-inspired cocktails designed by Bar Manager Steve Hagan and in partnership with The Macallan. Guests will discover cocktails and spirit-free libations such as the Baijiu Berry Bliss, a refreshing blend of potent Baijiu with the sweet-tart notes of hawthorn juice, the Suanmeitang Sour, an intriguing twist on the classic sour by incorporating the tartness of Suanmeitang, and the Mango Baozhong Cooler, a tropical and refreshing cocktail with floral notes and vibrant fruit.
Throughout the Lunar New Year season, eight lucky diners will receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ in a red envelope, ranging from complimentary tea for two, to an overnight stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and more. A special Lion Dance ceremony will be performed at the hotel on Friday, February 9; more details on the performance will be shared via the hotel’s website and Instagram @FairmontVan in the coming weeks.
