French’s Ketchup announced the limited-edition debut of the “Frenchsicle” – Ketchup Popsicle
I love ketchup as much as any kid who grew up with little else to flavour hotdogs and burgers, but a Ketchup Popsicle? I’m not so sure about that, but I am willing to try anything once! Especially when I heard that for every Frenchsicle given away at the pop-up on June 22 at 609 Granville Street from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., French’s will donate two meals to Food Banks Canada!
You read correctly. As its name suggests, the “Frenchsicle” is a refreshing, custom, ketchup popsicle created in collaboration with Happy Pops, a local Canadian business specializing in all-natural ice pops made from real fruit and sweetened with organic cane sugar.
The Frenchsicle is launching as a celebration of the first week of summer and boasts the flavour of French’s Ketchup, made from 100 per cent Leamington-area tomatoes, combining some of the best traditions the season has to offer: ketchup and popsicles.
Vancouver Pop-Up: If your curiosity is piqued, the Frenchsicle will be available at a French’s pop-up in Vancouver on June 22 at 609 Granville Street from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
French’s Survey: In the lead-up to the first week of Summer, French’s commissioned a survey to gain insights into Canadians and their love for ketchup, including:
- Ketchup is in the fabric of Canadian summer, so much so that most Canadians (79 per cent) say they like or love ketchup.
- Almost all Canadians who like ketchup think it’s important to buy ketchup made with one hundred per cent Canadian tomatoes (78 per cent).
- Ketchup is one of the most popular ways to flavour summer dishes. Now Canadians can cool down summer barbecues with the Frenchsicle.
- According to the French’s survey, Canadians who like ketchup enjoy it most with fries (84 per cent) and on BBQ dishes like hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages (59 per cent).
Food Banks Canada Partnership: To honour shared Canadian heritage, for every Frenchsicle given away, French’s will donate two meals to Food Banks Canada to address food insecurity in Canada, expanding the partnership that began in 2015.
At-Home Recipe: This summer, French’s Ketchup is encouraging Canadians to create memories with great food and flavour, especially if it includes the Frenchsicle. For those who want to learn more or can’t make it to one of the pop-ups and want to try this savoury pop, French’s created an at-home recipe, at Frenchs.ca.
