35 years ago, from an abandoned industrial area, Granville Island emerged as a vibrant public space that set the benchmark for public spaces worldwide. It was in 1979 that Granville Island opened its doors with a rich mix of theatres, restaurants, shops, studios, and the Public Market. Today, Granville Island remains true to its roots, providing a glimpse of the past while remaining a place that’s fresh with every new day.
To our favourite place in our favourite country – Happy Birthday, Granville Island! Happy Birthday, Canada!
