Burnaby’s Brentwood neighbourhood is getting a new pub, and this one comes with a heated lawn bowling lane.
Greyhound Tavern, the latest project from Freehouse Collective, will softly open on Monday, October 26, taking over the former Browns Socialhouse at 1908 Rosser Avenue. The group has overhauled the space, trading its previous look for deep booths, heavy millwork and an English-style tavern that shifts into a lounge after dark.
In a neighbourhood where glass towers increasingly define the landscape, the plans lean toward a room with a little more shadow and somewhere to settle in.

Fish and Chips, Oysters and Weekend Brunch
The opening menu brings together familiar pub dishes and a few options for making more of an evening of it. Fish and chips, spaghetti Bolognese and giant onion rings sit alongside steaks, freshly shucked oysters and prawn cocktails.
Weekend and holiday brunch will include steak and eggs, Benedicts and smoked salmon lox. Afternoon and late-night happy hours are also planned, although menus, prices and specific hours have yet to be shared.
Behind the bar, expect draught beer and cocktails. We’ll have to wait for the drinks list to see exactly what’s pouring.

A Pub by Day, DJs After Dark
Greyhound’s daytime plans include pub games and live sports, with weekend DJs taking over later in the evening. It’s a format that leaves room for an afternoon pint as well as a livelier night out.
An elevated private dining space called The Drawing Room sits above the main floor, offering a separate room for groups.
Outside, the streetside patio along Rosser Avenue will have trees and a heated lawn bowling lane. That’s the detail we’re most curious to see in action, particularly as the weather turns.
The October 26 opening is a soft launch. Full menus, prices and opening hours are still to be confirmed.
