This fall, descend into indulgence and experience a chilling twist on a beloved tradition. Beneath the storied walls of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Notch8 invites guests to explore its Haunted Cellar Afternoon Tea — a decadent journey where elegance meets the eerie.
With flickering candlelight, gothic flourishes, and whispers of the supernatural, this is afternoon tea with a deliciously dark side.

A Bewitching Culinary Experience
Guests will savour a bewitching selection of handcrafted pastries, savoury bites, and confections inspired by the mysterious beauty of the season. The menu is a spellbinding mix of sweet and savoury — meticulously designed to delight… and just a little, to disturb.
Start with fresh Classic Buttermilk and Bloodberry Scones, served with mascarpone tea cream and apple-strawberry jam — the perfect prelude to a lineup of savouries that balance whimsy and refinement.
The “Halloweenie” sausage roll with beet ketchup is hauntingly good, while “Dark Tide” tuna tartare with black magic aioli on a house-made potato chip delivers a sinister crunch. Other standouts include the “Fig Reaper” tart with caramelized onions, brie, and rosemary, and “Hocus Pocus” — salmon rillette topped with crème fraiche and salmon roe.

Sweet Temptations from the Cellar
The hotel’s pastry team showcases their artistry through desserts that are as enchanting as they are decadent. The “Midnight Burial” combines milk chocolate mousse, bitter chocolate brownie, and cherries for a delightfully dark finale. The “Bewitched” caramel pecan cupcake, crowned with a witch’s hat, is pure magic, while the “Sweet Darkness” macaron and “Scarlet Slice” cheesecake provide the perfect ending to this spectral feast.
And for those bringing little ghouls and goblins along, a Children’s Tea offers a charming lineup of kid-friendly sandwiches, cookies, and scones — ensuring the whole family can share in the haunted fun.
