The Honda Civic Hatchback on the Sea to Sky to Squamish
The Honda Civic Hatchback was just what we needed for our trip up to Squamish, onto Whistler and Pemberton. We had a fair amount of luggage, including cider for the Cooks Camp we were headed to and clothes and necessities for three nights of variable weather, and there was plenty of room for overpacks like me, in a car that’s so great on gas.
The Engine is an In-Line 4-cylinder with 158 @ 6,500 Horsepower and 128 @ 4,200 Torque and depending on which model you get, you can have a 3-Mode Drive System– Sport, Normal, and ECON, and remote start. Very handy when traversing through the city and on the highway when you want to kick it up a notch.
Safety Features in the Honda Civic include the Forward Warning Collision, Lane Departure, Collision Braking System, Road Departure System, Lane Keeping Assistant, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition. There’s also a variety of Airbags along with the usual front airbags and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera among other features.
The Honda Civic has a Colour Touchscreen for Audio and More is 7 inches and there’s Android and Apply CarPlay Compatibility, which I love so I can listen to my podcasts along the way. You can upgrade to a 9.0 inch and add a Bose stereo system and wireless smartphone charging pad as well.
This is an attractive car that hugs corners and feels like you are zipping along nicely on your travels without spending a fortune.
So, where’d we end up along the way in Squamish?
Our first stop was for donuts at the Fox and Oak, so we had breakfast sorted for the next day, and we stopped in on the way back to grab treats for those we left at home.
Secondly, we needed lunch and a margarita, virgin for the driver of course, and discovered The Copper Coil Still and Grill where we enjoyed a Blackened Chicken Salad, Paella, and some great service.
Next up, provisions at Peak Provisions Grocer, a deli, cheesemonger, specialty grocer, and wine shop run by the former wine buyer from the Vancouver Club, Martha McAvity, so you know she’s got some delicious items.
It was a beautiful day for a drive up the Sea to Sky in this Honda Civic and a stroll around Squamish.
