Hollywood Stars set to invade Osoyoos Desert Wine Festival!

An announcement was made today by Destination Osoyoos, in tandem with presenting sponsor Black Hills Estate Winery, Hotel Sponsors Walnut Beach Resort, Spirit Ridge Resort, Watermark Beach Resort and the business community of Osoyoos. It was announced today that Hollywood stars will once again invade Osoyoos, BC for the second annual Osoyoos Celebrity Wine Festival (OCWF) from June 10 to 13, 2010. This special weekend is a veritable Meritage of different food and wine pairing events from regional Chefs and Winemakers. It will provide participants with the unique opportunity to rub shoulders with A-listers from the Film & Television Industry while enjoying the region’s best cuisine and wine. So far, the following celebrities have confirmed their attendance at the inaugural festival: Jason Priestley (Beverley Hills 9020, Hollywood & Vines1), Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek, National Treasure), Ned Bell (Food Network), and Chad Oakes (Emmy award-winning producer). Numerous other celebrity Actors, Chefs and Winemakers are being invited to this dazzling event.

“We were absolutely stunned at the great response we had to the inaugural OCWF in 2009, with all the great media exposure it generated and all the additional visitors it brought into the valley” says Jo Knight, Director of Tourism with Destination Osoyoos. “Thanks to that response, we have added some exciting new events and expanded the festival into a 3-night format. In particular, we are thrilled that The Bearfoot Bistro from Whistler will be resurrecting their wildly popular “Masquerave” event and staging it right here in Osoyoos during the Festival.

For the 2010 OCWF there will be five different events going on as part of the inaugural Osoyoos Celebrity Wine Festival, each one promising to be a very entertaining experience.”

  • Thursday June 10, 9:00 pm at the Watermark Resort.  “The Vinos”- a wine commercial film festival for amateurs. It will be inspired by the Big Rock Eddies (http://www.bigrockbeer.com) and give amateurs the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and free wine by producing a 60-second video on their favourite BC wine. A celebrity judging panel will choose the top home-brewed talent.
  • Friday June 11, 9 am to noon. “Ride with a Winemaker”. Join local winemakers as they enjoy a bike ride and picnic lunch in the South Okanagan.
  • Friday evening,  7:00-11:00 pm at Walnut Beach Resort. The Osoyoos VIP Reception and Beach Party
  • Saturday June 12, 1pm to 5 pm, Nota Bene Release Party at Black Hills Estate Winery
  • Saturday 9 pm to 2 am: Celebrity Wine Auction with proceeds benefiting children’s charities. Participants can sip wines from an array of South Okanagan wineries and nibble on delicious appetizers from local restaurants. Then they can bid on rare wine from great Canadian wineries in both the Silent and Live Auctions

The OCWF is co-hosted by Jason Priestley and Chad Oakes who will bring along a bunch of their Hollywood friends. “It’s a great opportunity for participants to meet and mingle with celebrities. “We are looking forward to bringing Hollywood to the beautiful Osoyoos region,” says Jason Priestley. “There are so many exceptional wineries in the area, and this event and the media coverage we’re creating will help bring some richly deserved exposure to the great wines of the region”.
