Sapore Sensuale, A Rich, Deep Fall
Il Nido Restaurant Bar launches new sultry autumn/winter menu

Vancouver’s hidden Italian gem Il Nido Restaurant Bar is delighted to announce the launch of its 2009 fall menu. Cooler temperatures and crisp air welcomes a transition to richer, deeper flavours, saturated with traditional rustic appeal. Chef and owner Franco Felice has handcrafted a tantalizing selection of appetizers, daily soups, pastas, and entrees that will spice up the chilly air and wrap patrons in a warm cloud of delicious, golden autumn.

Flavours for Il Nido’s fall menu range from delightful creamy sauces, delicately laced with pecorino cheese and pancetta, to roasted red peppers, spicy pine nuts, figs and pistachios. There is something charmingly rustic about the new menu, that almost hints at comfort food for getting through the winter months ahead. In fact, dinners will even find a classic ‘mac “n” cheese’ on the menu, Il Nido style, with mimolette, white cheddar, fontina and Parmesan cheese… with a few Portobello mushrooms for texture and body.

“For fall and winter, it’s time to nestle indoors and settle down with full-bodied dishes that make us feel warm and comfortable,” says Franco Felice, Il Nido’s owner. And his restaurant tucked around the corner of the bustling Robson and Thurlow streets is just the place to do that. Diners can escape the chaos of downtown and settle in to enjoy dishes that will whisk them away to the Italian countryside.

Start with the tuna carpaccio di tonno or warm portobello melt. Follow with the tender Maiale pork loin stuffed with blue cheese, dry figs and pistachio, served with yam and leek pave madeira glaze. The savory ragu with tender papardelle pasta, veal, pork and beef braised in red wine, with tomatoes and fresh herbs, warms from the inside out.

Franco’s imaginative chefs, attentive wait staff, and masterful bar mixologists are sure to create a cozy Italian experience, that will leave patrons feel as if they were dining underneath the twinkling stars of sensual Lake Como.

Il Nido is open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner seatings. For reservations and special group celebrations call 604-685-6436.
