Imperial Chocolate Stout Brews Holiday Cheer

GIB refines chocolate stout for an imperially rich taste

Granville Island Brewing is ready to put beer connoisseurs in the holiday spirit with the release of their Imperial Chocolate Stout. Created in partnership with Rogers’ Chocolates, this limited release will be available November 18 and makes for a mouthwatering and rich Christmas beer.

“What happens when two “Masters”, a master chocolatier and a brew master, get together over a few beers?  Well, the result “tastes” for itself!!” says Steve Parkhill, president of Rogers’ Chocolates.

“Our Chocolate Stout has been tailored to add some warmth to our dreary winters. This year we have given things a boost and made an Imperial Chocolate Stout, a bigger, stronger more flavourful version of the beer we launched last year” says Vern Lambourne, GIB’s brewmaster. “This beer combines the best organic fair-trade chocolate from Rogers’ with malt and hops to create an aromatic Christmas treat.”

Imperial Chocolate Stout is rich and warming, a perfect complement to Vancouver’s cold winter nights. Brewed with four malt varieties, hops from the Pacific Northwest and of course chocolate, the beer’s dark colouring and aromas of roasted malt, cocoa and coffee flavours are accompanied by dried fruit and a mellow bitterness.

GIB’s Chocolate Stout provides a welcome change from mulled wines and apple ciders during the holiday season. Spice things up with a bottle or two, found at the GIB retail store on Granville Island and select liquor stores. Visit www.gib.ca for more details.
