Joe Fortes turns 25!

on

We are turning 25 this year. If we were a car, we’d officially be a classic. It so happens that 1985, the year we got started, was also the 100th anniversary of the arrival of Joe Fortes (the man) in Vancouver. Coincidence? We think not. Joe, the legendary English bay lifeguard, was named the city’s “citizen of the century” in 1986 for teaching so many people to swim, saving hundreds of lives and being an all-around classy guy.

To celebrate becoming a classic (and Joe’s namesake) we’re featuring some chop house classic dishes every month on the menu. March has a definite French flavour:

•French Onion Soup, Gruyère & Emmental cheese
•Beef Bourguignon
•Pear Tarte Tatin with honey crème fraiche.

And you can toast Joe Fortes (the man) with the Original Tequila Sunrise. Felicitations! Salut! Bon appétit! Our 25th anniversary wish? Joe Fortes is named restaurant of the century on our 50th anniversary in 2035.
