MASSIMO BOTTURA – named “Best Chef in the World” by the International Academy of Gastronomy visits CIBO TRATTORIA for a weekend of dining and philosophical repast.
At Cibo Trattoria, we are constantly at the forefront of pushing the gastronomic envelope when it comes to the Vancouver food scene and community. Our intense love and passion for Italian cuisine and wine drives us to always look for the best and latest in culinary experiences. Therefore, we announce with great pride and pleasure a rare and exceptional opportunity to experience the culinary talents of the best chef in the world (as named by the International Academy of Gastronomy) this July at Cibo. Massimo Bottura, the owner and patron chef of the multi award winning Osteria Francescana located in Modena, Italy is bringing his talented brigade to Vancouver for two days of cooking, dining and philosophical repast. Steeped in the traditions of all that we love about Italian food while constantly pushing the envelope of innovation, Bottura is one of the few rare breeds of chefs who are recognized internationally as an artist both inside and outside the kitchen.
Bottura cites his cuisine as “an oasis of peace” and says “from the past I search for future development – it’s not a revolution but my search for evolution.” Alain Ducasse calls him the best Italian chef of the present and future.
Ranked #4 in the San Pellegrino list of the best 50 restaurants in the world, it is virtually impossible to book a reservation at Bottura’s acclaimed restaurant (with waits of up to one year). Working with his talented brigade and Cibo’s very own acclaimed and award winning Executive Chef, Neil Taylor, Bottura will be presenting a six course Modena dinner with matching wines from the legendary portfolio including Angelo Gaya and other top selections.
Due to unprecedented demand (with the Friday evening sold out) we are pleased to announce a second date of Saturday, July 16 for an evening with Massimo Bottura. The six course dinner will be accompanied by the following wines (some making their appearance in Vancouver for the very first time):
1) Nino Franco Grave di Stecca Valdobbiadene 2008
2) Terredora Fiano di Avellino Terre di Dora 2010
3) Gaja Chardonnay 2008
