Melissa McCarthy releases a clothing line and I take some items for a spin.
This fall one of my favourite actors did more than put out a seriously hilarious movie, she released her own clothing line. We all know Melissa as from Mike and Molly, Bridesmaids and her latest film Spy but did you know she went to design school at FIT in NYC?
The line features many separates from form fitting jeans and pants, to long skirts, blouses and sweaters. She’s been quoted chatting about wardrobe problems, stating “I want separates, for the love of God, because everything’s like a bad prom dress. Where’s a good blouse and a great trouser?”. Haven’t we all had that problem?
Melissa is able to laugh at herself and she looks great at whatever size she happens to be and is. She’s an inspiration to all who have ever had, or thought they had, a weight problem that then resulted in lower self esteem. For all of us who have starved ourselves into a smaller size and still not been happy, she reminds us that weight is not a measure of how pleased we, or others, will be with ourselves.
When a critic was harsh and focused on her weight, she responded, “I felt really bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate. I just thought, that’s someone who’s in a really bad spot, and I am in such a happy spot.” Great attitude!
I try to put my best foot forward, so here I am a few of the items from the line out for some serious fun times. I got a ton of complements and I loved what I was wearing. I’m no model, but these clothes made me feel and even try to pose like one! I’m all about being more confident and rocking what is, rather than waiting until feeling more perfect. Most of the time as we all have our moments and doubts. Surround yourself with people who appreciate you and you’ll have far few bad days.
You can purchase Melissa’s line at Penningtons!
