Culinary Students Serve a Taste of Atlantic Canada

Welcome! We hope you brought your appetite! During the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Atlantic Canada House will welcome visitors with a Taste of Atlantic Canada, prepared and served by the region’s culinary schools. 

Three times daily, culinary students from across Atlantic Canada will prepare and serve complimentary food samples using product from the region. Students and instructors from Nova Scotia Community College’s Sobeys Culinary Centers (NS), Culinary Arts Program at the New Brunswick Community College (NB), Holland College’s Culinary Institute of Canada (PE), and College of the North Atlantic (NL) will be using their creativity and training to bring a taste of the East Coast to visitors at Atlantic Canada House.

“This is an incredible experience for the culinary students,” says Kevin Boyce, Culinary Project Manager for Atlantic Canada House, “There is a sense of pride in this opportunity to showcase our culinary talents and the products harvested in our region to an international audience”.

During Atlantic Canada House operations, most menus will be pan-Atlantic in nature; however one day has been designated for each province to feature specific recipes and products. Provincial Days at Atlantic Canada House are as follows:  Nova Scotia Day – February 16th, Prince Edward Island Day – February 18th, New Brunswick Day – February 23rd, and Newfoundland and Labrador Day February 26th. The Taste of Atlantic Canada daily sampling at will take place from February 13-27 at 11:30am, 2:00pm, and 5:00pm at the Atlantic Canada House venue, on Granville Island, Vancouver.   All culinary sampling is free to the public.

Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) offers a range of culinary programs and courses including Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts, Boulanger and Baking Arts, as well as Food and Wine. Programs and Courses are offered at its Sobeys Culinary Centres located at campuses across Nova Scotia.
