Drink Up For Charity, Pride-Themed Cocktails Benefit the Dr. Peter Centre
Start celebrating as until August 6, dozens of bars and restaurants across Vancouver will shake up an array of signature cocktails in celebration of the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation. I’m feeling rather thirsty already! Scroll down for a cocktail recipe featuring Long Table Distillery from Justin Taylor of the Cascade Room.
Establishments will be offering Pride-themed cocktails with partial proceeds from the sale of each drink donated directly to the Dr. Peter Centre, a facility in Vancouver’s West End that provides services for British Columbians who face poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and social isolation.
Whether shaken, stirred or served with a twist, each cocktail will not only generate much-needed funds for compassionate HIV care provided by the Dr. Peter Centre but will also raise awareness and champion the LGBTQ2+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Two-Spirited) community that comprises the majority of persons who receive care at the centre.

Cocktail Name: Purple Rain
RECIPE
1.5 oz Longtable Gin
0.25 oz Okanagan spirits Haskap liqueur
0.75 oz Orgeat Syrup
0.75 oz Passion Fruit Puree
0.5 oz lime juice
0.75 oz egg whites
METHOD
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and add ice
Shake hard for 15 seconds and double strain over fresh ice in a Collins glass
Garnish with Citrus Zest and a mist of Bittered Sling Gunpowder Bitters (heavily coat the top of the cocktail for aromatics)
