From a forest pumpkin patch in Abbotsford to farm animals in Langley and corn-maze adventures in Chilliwack, there is still time to plan a proper fall day out.
There are two kinds of pumpkin outings: the quick stop for something orange to put on the porch, and the one that somehow becomes an entire afternoon. Around Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, the latter might involve a wagon ride, a corn maze, a bag of apples and something warm to eat before heading home.
With Halloween approaching, here are six farms to consider for the rest of October. Choose according to the kind of day you want—and check what your admission actually includes. At several farms, the pumpkin costs extra.

Taves Family Farms, Abbotsford
Taves is a useful choice when your group wants different things from a farm visit. The pumpkin patch and apple orchards can be a straightforward picking outing, while the Magic of Fall experience adds attractions such as the Magical Pumpkin Garden, Autumn’s Avenue, a princess carriage and animal encounters. Hayrides and other activities depend on the pass you choose.
I visited Taves during Taste of Abby this fall, so this is also a chance to return for a pumpkin rather than make it an entirely new destination.
Plan your visit: 333 Gladwin Road. The farm lists Monday and Wednesday–Friday hours of 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; closed Tuesdays; weekends 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Halloween, October 31, closes at 5 p.m. Regular weekday access to the pumpkin patch is free; pumpkins are purchased separately. Weekend picking passes are online-only and do not include the full attraction package. Check parking requirements when booking activity passes.

Maan Farms, Abbotsford
Maan makes the case for lingering. Its daytime Fall at the Farm combines a forest pumpkin patch, two corn mazes and Barnyard Adventureland. The food is part of the appeal: seasonal treats listed by the farm include Double Pumpkin Spice Cream, mini doughnuts and pumpkin pie.
Plan your visit: 790 McKenzie Road. The farm currently lists daily hours of 9 a.m.–6 p.m. All visitors aged three and older need an admission ticket, including on weekdays; children two and under enter free. Pumpkins are charged by size. Select your date in the booking calendar for current rates. The evening Halloween Fright Festival requires a separate ticket from daytime admission.

Richmond Country Farms, Richmond
For an outing closer to Vancouver, Richmond Country Farms pairs pumpkin picking and wagon rides with the practical pleasure of a farm-market stop. Come for the porch pumpkin; leave room for something for supper, too.
Plan your visit: 12900 Steveston Highway. The official site lists the patch through October 31. Weekday admission is $15 plus tax, with hours of 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; weekends and holidays are $20 plus tax, 10 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Those end times are last-entry times. Children two and under are free. Tickets are sold at the farm rather than online, and parking is free. Bring a sturdy bag for your pumpkin.
Pumpkin patch hours and admission
Aldor Acres, Langley
Aldor Acres offers an alternative for readers who want a working-farm outing. Its fall pumpkin season runs through October 31, with farm animals adding another reason to make the drive. The family’s FAQ also lists a weekend food shack serving farm-raised sausages, beef hot dogs and grilled corn.
Plan your visit: 24990 84 Avenue. Open daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m., with last farm entry at 5 p.m. Visitors aged three and older require admission. Use the farm’s ticket calendar for the price and availability on your chosen date.
Laity Pumpkin Patch, Maple Ridge
Choose your side of Laity before setting off. The North location is designed for younger children, particularly ages zero to six. The South location is the farm’s recommendation for older children and groups without children, with attractions including a pumpkin jumping pad and games area.
Plan your visit: North is at 21145 128th Avenue; South is at 12725 Laity Street. Both run through October 31, with date-specific hours on the farm calendars. Admission for ages three and older is $13 on weekdays or $16 on weekends and statutory holidays, including GST. Children two and under are free with a paying adult. Tickets are gate-only, admission covers one location, and pumpkins cost extra.
Choose your location and check hours
Greendale Acres, Chilliwack
Make Greendale the destination when a corn maze matters as much as choosing a pumpkin. Farm admission includes access to the patch and maze, with other attractions and seasonal programming making this a longer outing.
Plan your visit: 41905 Yale Road West. October admission is $17 online or $20 at the door on weekdays; $22 online or $25 at the door on weekends and holidays. Children two and under and visitors 75 and older are free. Pumpkins are sold separately.
Regular October hours are Monday–Tuesday 2–8 p.m., Wednesday–Friday 2–9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. October 23 has an earlier 10 a.m. opening; Halloween closes at 6 p.m. The season extends to November 1; check the specific event listing for that day’s hours.

A few things to check before you go
Pack boots and a rain layer, leave room in the car and allow time for the drive home. Before buying, check whether you need admission for adults, whether parking is extra and whether a pumpkin is included. Picking-only passes and full farm-attraction tickets are not interchangeable.
If you are planning a bigger Fraser Valley day out, our Taste of Abby Bun Run story offers a little Abbotsford food inspiration. The September trail has finished, so check the individual cafés for their current menus rather than expecting the festival specials.
