There’s plenty of room on the drinks table for something without alcohol, particularly as we head into the holiday entertaining season. But finding a bottle you actually enjoy can take some tasting. A new event in Port Moody offers a chance to do just that, with an evening of sampling, music and meeting the people behind the drinks.
The first COOL AF Expo & Sober Social takes place Thursday, November 5, at Site B on Murray Street, in the heart of Port Moody’s Brewer’s Row. Organized by Racquel Foran, owner of Bevees Booze-Free Bottle Shop & Beverage Room in Port Coquitlam, the event brings together non-alcoholic drinks and a social evening under one roof.
Whether you’re skipping alcohol for the evening, cutting back or looking for something interesting to serve guests, it’s an opportunity to explore beyond your usual order.
Taste Before You Stock the Holiday Drinks Table
Organizers are promoting more than 100 non-alcoholic products to sample, with options spanning beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and ready-to-drink beverages. You’ll be able to chat with exhibitors, compare styles and discover a few possibilities for your next dinner party.
A Bevees pop-up bottle shop will carry products being sampled at the expo, so you can take home favourites from the tasting.

Stay for the Sober Social
The public Sober Social runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., starting with a quieter tasting hour before the DJ and dancing begin at 7:30 p.m.
Along with the sampling tables, plans include a Bevees booze-free bar, a lounge, bingo, games and giveaways. The event also supports the SHE RECOVERS Foundation.

An Afternoon for Hospitality Buyers
Before the public evening, a free Hospitality Industry Tasting runs from 3 to 5 p.m.
Restaurant and bar teams, retailers, caterers, event planners and other hospitality professionals can explore the drinks and connect with exhibitors. If you’re putting together a non-alcoholic list or planning holiday events, this is a chance to taste several options in one afternoon.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
