Purdys Has Something for Every Bunny for Easter
Sorry, I couldn’t help it with the pun, because Easter is always such a happy holiday for me. When we were younger the anticipation of Easter Egg Hunts and then finding eggs months later, usually melted, because my mom and dad were such good egg hiders, the Easter ham, hot cross buns, lemon curd meringues, sometimes bunny-shaped sugar cookies, usually poorly decorated, by us kids and of course chocolate Easter bunnies, sometimes of questionable origin. But, once our palates could tell the difference, Mom couldn’t get away with those cheap plastic-tasting chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies and luckily, we had Purdys at the local mall. We got better chocolates, fewer of them, but when food, especially chocolate is made with real ingredients and tastes so delicious, a little goes a long way.
Purdys still holds a special place in my heart, and I often dart into the shop on West Fourth for my favourite peanut butter chocolate or a chocolate caramel, and I was completely blown away by their new Vegan Chocolates, especially the Vegan Hawaiian Black Salt Caramel, which now come in a special Easter version. I’d met their Master Chocolatier, Rachel McKinley, when she had her chocolate shop, and was lucky enough to do a tour of Purdy’s and make some chocolate with her a few years back, a super special day for me.
For Easter this year, Purdys has its classics, and some new gift tins and vegan options.
