Rosewood Hotel Georgia Captures 84 Years of Memories

Share your memory to win an incredible stay at this legendary hotel

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia, widely regarded as Vancouver’s most historic luxury hotel, invites Canadians to share their personal stories, moments and memories of the hotel, over the course of the past 84 years.

When the hotel first opened its doors in 1927, the location became the social, cultural and business heart of the city. Musical stars and British royalty joined many local Vancouverites who’ve shared special celebrations and occasions within its walls. Elvis Presley, Nat “King” Cole, The Beatles, Katharine Hepburn, Laurence Oliver and HRH Edward Prince of Wales have all left a lasting presence on the hotel’s extraordinary story.

“Throughout the restoration of this magnificent building so many people have shared their Hotel Georgia stories with me,” says Steve Halliday, the hotel’s new Managing Director “I’ve heard from those who mixed and mingled with Hollywood’s elite and those who helped build its wonderful reputation, from couples who were married or celebrated momentous occasions within its walls, to others who protested to stop its closure in 1962. We want to honour these stories and continue the tradition as the legend lives on under a new lease of life this summer.”

Rosewood Hotel Georgia invites you to share your memories of this iconic venue, in a unique contest, which launches today. By capturing personal moments in the legacy of this legendary location, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia hopes to embark on a journey though its enigmatic history, as it prepares to open under the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts esteemed brand. The contest runs from May 6th to June 18th, 2011, when the lucky winner will be announced.

The grand prize will include a night in the Lord Stanley Suite (one of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s two penthouse suites with private roof top terraces and hot tubs), dinner at Hawksworth Restaurant (the hotel’s signature dining venture lead by one of Canada’s foremost chefs) and a decadent room service breakfast, the following morning. Additional prizes will be award to those who visit and “like” the dedicated Facebook page.

With 155 beautifully appointed guest rooms, Sense A Rosewood Spa, salt-water lap pool, and over ten thousand square feet of dining, nightlife, spa and event spaces, this lovingly restored hotel will return to it elegant stature at the beating heart of the city.
