Salt Tasting Room’s “Salt Cellar Series” Shines The Spotlight on BC!

Gastown’s award-winning Salt Tasting Room looks forward to rounding out the summer with a trio of Winemaker’s Dinners featuring three of BC’s most innovative wineries!

Dunham & Froese – Wednesday, August 19th at 7:00 p.m. – $65 all incl.

Serendipity is what Gene & Shelly Covert and Kirby & Crystal Froese the partners of Dunham & Froese experienced when coming together for their 1st vintage in 2005. They are a small production winery and are completely hands on from vineyard to bottle. They follow organic and biodynamic practices both in the vineyard and in the winery and are intensely dedicated to the betterment of the earth both now and for future generations. Named “Best New Winery” at the 2008 Okanagan Fall Wine Festival, Dunham Froese have been receiving acclaim and awards steadily, including Double Gold for their ’07 Pinot Blanc at the WinePress NorthWest ‘Best Of The Best’ Awards and a Silver for their Amicitia Red at the All Canadian Wine Championships.  Come see what all the fuss is about!

Blasted Church – Monday, August 24th at 7:00 p.m. – $65 all incl.

Recently winning a Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence for their 2006 Syrah, Blasted Church are not only known for their original and eye-catching graphic labels, but also the quality wine at reasonable prices they put into the bottles. Their wide range of wines are all made from estate grown fruit from vineyards located in the southern reach of British Columbia’s fertile Okanagan Valley, only an 8 minute drive from Penticton. The property clings to scenic elevated bench on the east side of Skaha Lake and has been growing fruit for close to two decades. ?Offering a wide range of styles from aromatic whites to solid, food-friendly reds – Blasted Church has developed a reputation for quality and consistency while retaining a fun perspective and attitude toward the grape. We are excited to welcome a fantastic winery with a large cult following to Salt.

Road 13 Vineyards – Tuesday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m. – $65 all incl.

Established as Golden Mile Cellars in 1998, Road 13 Vineyards create wines which express the special character of the South Okanagan’s renowned Golden Mile.  Their motto: “It’s All About The Dirt” reflects their belief that great wines start in the vineyard.  Winemaker Michael Bartier produces a wide and dynamic range of whites and reds, has received four Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence for his wines and 13 medals at the most recent Okanagan Fall Wine Festival.  Bartier’s Chenin Blanc from 44-year-old vines has become legendary among wine fans in the province, and he looks forward to chatting with guests about the diversity of soils and vineyards that have created his much-acclaimed Viognier, Syrah, Chenin Blanc and more.

Each of these events are priced at $65 (includes all wine, food, taxes and gratuity) and will take place along the backdrop of Salt Cellar’s 1000–bottle wine cooler, in an intimate setting that will include hand-crafted charcuterie from local producers such as J, N & Z Deli, Moccia’s, and Oyama Sausage Company, along with artisan cheeses from Neal’s Yard (UK), Italy, Spain, and British Columbia, Artisan Breads and more.
