Cultus Lake Marina Getaway For A Day
Why not take some time during the last days of summer and head out to Cultus Lake Marina for a little boating or jet skiing? Summer’s not over yet! Darker days have us reflecting back on our July trip out to Cultus Lake Marina where you actually don’t need a boating license to go boating, as long as you promise to follow the rules.
Once you suit up in your life jacket (you don’t have to wear it on the boat, but make sure you get one that fits just in case there’s any trouble) you can head down the dock where the attendees bring the boat around for you so there’s no need to negotiate tight quarters, or be a super experienced boater.
Once aboard you’ve got the run of the lake, especially mid-week, which is handy if you can make it work, as rates are far less for rentals. There’s a couple zones to avoid, so do listen up and pay attention to the pre-safety video too.
It’s so infrequent that we actually put down our phones and we actually managed to do so (apart from snapping some pictures) and managed just to relax and enjoy the view. There’s something about being on water among the mountains that brings some sort of magical inner peace. There’s no one here to comment on your hair either, which was fortunate for me!
There weren’t many other boaters leaving Cultus Lake Marina, or on the lake in general, so we switched off the engine and drifted for a while. That’s me with some ice tea, promise, there’s no alcohol aboard, safety first! There’s a nearby brew pub, Old Yale Brewing, so you can quench your thirst afterwards.
A few other boats and jet skis were about, this fellow was actually barefoot water skiing, which was rather super-hero like of him. I used to waterski on Okanagan Lake as a kid, and my family still has a cabin where my niece and nephew are far more successful at it than I ever once, but I don’t think they even attempted this feat! (pun intended)
There’s also jet skis and pontoons and you absolutely have to have an ice cream cone while you are there, we went for a double scoop. Before summer’s really up, we need to create some more special moments! Cultus Lake is only an hour and a half away in good traffic as well, and we spent the night here and got a few other attractions around the area in as well. More on that in another post.
