Slow Food Vancouver Summer Cycle Tours

JULY 28 & 29, 2012 – Cycling & visiting farmers in the Fraser Valley learning more about where our food should come from.

The 2012 Cycle Tours will be held on Saturday, July 28 in Agassiz and on Sunday, July 29 in Chilliwack. Thank you for your support in 2011.  Slow Food Vancouver is a volunteer organization dependent on sponsors and revenue from registration fees to cover the costs to hold these events. To be a sponsor, contact cycletours@slowfoodvancouver.com

Visit the Agassiz Cycle Tour Site and the Chilliwack Cycle Tour Site for more information.

Spend the weekend and do both tours.  Agriculture in Agassiz and Chilliwack are very different as the tour will highlight different farms.

The cycle tours are self-guided leisurely bicycle rides.

These tours provide an educational and culinary experience exploring many farms; some that are open to the public for this day only!  The tours give a rare chance to meet the farmers and learn about agriculture.

Net proceeds from our summer cycle tours of the Fraser Valley, along with donations from our Terra Madre 2012 Fund, will fund our local farmers to attend Terra Madre 2012.

The idea of slow food has never been more important; global issues such as climate change make supporting our local food producers essential!  The Fraser Valley is unique with its perfect climate, soil, and water conditions for agriculture.  The Slow Food Cycle Tours are a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with an important resource – food!  You will get to experience and taste local food products produced close to home, while getting to meet your local farmers.
