A Celebration of Women Entrepreneurs and Cultural Food
A unique culinary experience exploring culture through food and stories.
On Saturday, October 27th at 7:00pm, come to an unforgettable evening of diverse cultural food and stories of entrepreneurship in the beautiful setting of Massy Books in Chinatown for Storied Cuisine. You’ll hear the stories of three inspiring Flavours of Hope refugee newcomer women chefs – from Venezuela, Mexico and Palestine – and learn about their personal connection to each traditional dish they serve you.
You’ll also experience a delicious array of desserts from local food blogger extraordinaire, Fanny Lam of Oh Sweet Day! Fanny will share her entrepreneurial journey as an immigrant to Canada and highlight some of the joys and challenges she’s faced while starting a food business that has become very successful. There will be a cake decorating demo and we will eat some cake together afterward!
Each ticket includes one wine or beer, appetizers, desserts, and a delicious bag of Oh Sweet Day goodies to take home. There will be a raffle for two books:
1. One signed copy of “Oh Sweet Day!: A Celebration of Cookbook of Edible Gifts, Party Treats, and Festive Desserts” and
2. “Wherever I Find Myself,” a collection of inspiring stories by immigrant women in Canada.
All proceeds from this event support the vision and work of Flavours of Hope, a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to empowering refugee women to earn a living wage through cooking and sharing their traditional cuisine and stories.
