The combination of delicious shellfish and great music team up to give festival attendees an unforgettable day at this years’ BC Shellfish Festival. Taste a tantalizing array of BC’s finest shellfish products prepared by top chefs and farmers while being serenaded by the sweet sounds of one of the valleys most versatile and creative guitar players, Luke Blu Guthrie. Guthrie is just one of three great bands set to take the stage at Comox Marina Park on June 18. From noon to 10pm, attendees will sample culinary delights, learn new recipes at the cooking demo’s, cheer on participants in the chowder and shucking competitions, and rock out to live music.

Vancouver Island’s Skagway will fill the valley with sounds of modern bluegrass at 5pm, playing original songs with fast picking, energetic stage presence. Performing tracks from their first album ‘Wine in the Cupboard’ Ira and Tad have a hard driving rhythm, which they mix with their own brand of soulful harmony. Headliner Blackberry Wood will perform on the main stage at 8pm, providing high energy beats for festival attendees. This band has been widely acclaimed for their eclectic cabaret spin on old and modern music, adding spicy flavours like exotic world beats, ska, folk and punk to their music. Playing over 300 shows since 2006, Blackberry Wood is sure to get the crowd on its feet. Watch from the beer and wine garden where you can sip on Phillips Brewery ales and Hester Creek Estates wine or while indulging in a plate of steamed clams and Kusshi Oyster shooters.

The BC Shellfish Festival is proud to offer a venue for BC shellfish growers, top chefs and great bands to come together and create a fun, educational and entertaining afternoon for attendees to enjoy.
