This is the tenth year for Taste of Yaletown coming up from October 16 – 30th, 2014 and features 25 Yaletown restaurants. Check out menus in either set prices of $25, $35, and $45 for both the lunchtime and dinnertime scenes.
Chefs whip up some pretty interesting dishes that aren’t usually on the menu during the festival and even cooler is that a portion of their profits from the Taste of Yaletown event in support of longtime charity partner, The Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Some menus even include drink pairings.
We sampled two menus from the festival, one at the The New Oxford, and the other at Yaletown L’Antipasto.
The New Oxford is serving up a three course for $25
1ST COURSE
Quinoa Salad mixed dried fruit & nuts, cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, fresh mint, harissa vinaigrette, crispy flatbread cracker or
Sausage platter Selection of 3 sausages toasted baguette, spicy mustard, rosemary mayo
2ND COURSE
Pappardelle Agliolio * Roasted corn, confit shallot and garlic, kale, cherry tomato or
Albacore Nicoise salad Thyme garlic poached potato, nicoise olives, poached egg, capers, anchovy, green beans, olive chili vinaigrette
3RD COURSE
Beer Float Gelato and local brew Or
Trees Maple walnut cheese cake and SoCo caramel
Yaletown L’Antipasto serves up three courses for $35
1st COURSE
Tuna Carpaccio -In-house cured albacore tuna loin made in the traditional manner of Sardegna, enhanced with some lemon zest infused olive oil on a bed of arugula with cherry tomatoes and capers.
Beef Tenderloin Carpacciole – AAA Alberta beef, slightly seasoned, drizzled with an intoxicating white alba truffle infused olive oil, served with traditional vegetables sott’ olio
Insalata di Celeste Organic spring greens, chevre goat cheese, dried cranberries, sliced almonds & balsamic vinegrette
2nd COURSE
Pappardelle Rosse – This is a recipe that’s been in the family for generations. Thick ribbon egg noodles with a mixed meat ragu of braised boneless beef short ribs, Italian fennel sausages & chicken breast or
Riscotto alla Pescatora – Arborio rice simmered with a medley of shellfish; salt spring island mussels, clams, tiger prawns, Mediterranean calamari & baby scallops with a hint of spice or
Gnocchi ai Quattro formaggi Piedmontese gnocchi in a cheese sauce of crème fraîche, grana padano, Okanagan chevre & gorgonzola or
Ravioli all Filly – Lobster crab & ravioli with a fresh tomato sauce & tiger prawns, sautéed with a little garlic and chilies, laid on a bed of arugula
Dessert
Lavender Crème Brulee or Vanilla Panna Cotta
