Turkey dinners, take-home feasts, a Québec-style sugar pie and a few delicious alternatives for the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Thanksgiving dinner is lovely. Finding enough fridge space, getting the turkey cooked and tackling the dishes afterwards can be a little less appealing.
If you’d rather leave some or all of the cooking to someone else, Vancouver restaurants and food shops have plenty planned for the October 10–12 long weekend. There are traditional turkey dinners, meals to heat and serve at home, vegetarian options and desserts worth making room for.
Here’s where to celebrate Thanksgiving in Vancouver and Richmond this year.
Thanksgiving Dinners Out
Loam Bistro
Loam Bistro is putting a seasonal spin on the turkey dinner with butternut squash risotto topped with herb-stuffed turkey roulade and pan gravy. The turkey is rolled with house-made herb stuffing and roasted until golden, then served over the creamy risotto.
Available October 10–12 for $35, it’s an option for anyone who wants Thanksgiving flavours without committing to a full three-course meal.

Fable Diner & Bar
The Richards Street location of Fable Diner & Bar is serving a classic three-course Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, October 11, from 5–9 p.m., for $45 per person.
Start with harvest salad, Caesar salad or tomato soup, followed by roasted turkey with stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and mixed vegetables. Dessert choices include sticky toffee pudding, tiramisu bites and fudge brownies.

Provence Marinaside
Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia and his team are bringing a French touch to Thanksgiving with a three-course dinner available October 7–12 for $69 per person.
Start with pissaladière topped with caramelized onions, black olives, anchovies and arugula. Roasted turkey breast and leg roulade follow, accompanied by organic carrots, mashed potatoes, turkey jus and cranberry sauce. Dessert is pumpkin and pecan cake with pumpkin diplomat cream, pecan sponge and pecan crunch.
The extended dates make this Yaletown option handy for anyone celebrating before the long weekend.

There are à la carte options too, including a turkey dip with brie, stuffing and cranberry-orange relish. Wine pairings are an additional $29.

For a Thanksgiving dinner with something different at its centre, Violeté on Commercial Drive is serving roasted poussin chicken as part of a shared feast.
The $75-per-person menu includes house sourdough with carbonara butter, jamón croquetas, carrot and marigold, followed by chicken, purple potatoes with bagna cauda, seasonal vegetables and stuffing. Pumpkin tart finishes the meal.
Available during evening service October 11 and 12, with a vegetarian option available by request when booking.
ARC at Fairmont Waterfront
Chef Harris Sakalis’s three-course Thanksgiving dinner begins with B.C. forest mushroom bisque, followed by Rossdown turkey breast and thigh roulade with apricot-sage stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy and cranberry chutney. A cauliflower panisse offers a vegan main-course alternative.
Dessert is pumpkin tart brûlée with honey cinnamon ice cream, coffee crumble and bourbon caramel.
