The Dockside Restaurant relaunches Vancouver’s best patio

Enjoy Vancouver’s only patio gazebo and unbeatable views on Granville Island

For the past 20 years, the patio at the Granville Island Hotel has been one of Vancouver’s best summer getaways. Nestled at the east end of the Island, the patio is protected from the prevailing wind on three sides by the Hotel and basks in uninterrupted sunshine from dawn to dusk on Vancouver’s sunny days.

Vancouver’s urban waterfront is an setting unlike any other and the Dockside Restaurant patio is the best place anywhere to sit back and enjoy this urban idyll. The view has changed immensely in the last two decades, but Dockside remains in the front row. With the changes which have occurred, guests now look out at the iconic Yaletown skyline and the Olympic Village along with the marinas and parks which dot both shores of False Creek.

Just as the skyline has changed, Dockside and the Granville Island Hotel have changed with thanks to a complete renovation of the restaurant, lounge, guestrooms and public spaces. Over the past 18 months, the patio has been completely reimagined with comfortable lounge seating at water’s edge, the city’s only patio Gazebo and plush seating on the lounge patio adjacent to the building. Two open pit fireplaces and heaters throughout the gazebo means an extension to the patio season in Fall and Spring and on nights that turn chilly.

With plush banquettes and table seating for 65, the new gazebo is ideal for al fresco dining or semi-private outdoor events. The sofas and low chairs at the water’s edge are make a great place to bask in the sunshine and watch the boat traffic motor past Pelican Bay Marina. We’ve even added high top tables that are perfect for casual meals and drinks by the boats.

While the buildings of Yaletown look close enough to reach out and touch, Dockside is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle that it’s an ideal place to get away for a quick break from city life. The only traffic noise here is the putt-putt of marine traffic making its way up an down False Creek. What better way to enjoy the sights and sounds than on a comfy armchair with a craft beer made fresh on the premises in our brewery or a glass of wine from our extensive wine list?

If you’re looking for a meal or quick snack, our menu includes everything from casual classics executed to perfection to thin-crust pizzas from our wood-fired oven, healthy salads and a wide range of Oceanwise seafood drawn from local waters and prepared with flair and passion. Dockside also offers a full range of catering options for larger groups and special events.

As a celebration of the patio’s relaunch, we’ve brought back Dockside’s Legendary Jazz & Blues Brunch which features live music each Sunday from 11-3. We’re excited to bring back this Dockside classic and will feature different live acts each week throughout the summer. Full details of the weekly talent line-up are available on the Dockside website <http://www.docksidevancouver.com/specials-and-events/dockside-legendary-jazz-blues-brunch-is-back> .

So, this summer, when you’re looking to get outside and enjoy the best that Vancouver has to offer, make the getaway to Granville Island and the patio at Dockside Restaurant. Its surroundings offer the widest variety of ways to enjoy the weather and the views of the False Creek waterfront. You’ll see why we say that Dockside offers “The warmth of the Island in the heart of the city”.
