Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia: The easy pace of Harrison and Agassiz beckons cyclists and foodies to get up close and personal with local fare and its producers at Brunch On The Farm on July 12, 2009 and the Third Annual Slow Food Cycle Tour on August 22, 2009.

Starting at 11:00 am, Farm House Natural Cheeses and Limbert Mountain Farm will offer an alfresco Brunch On The Farm, where foodies can experience flavours with flare on a meadow. The Slow Food Cycle runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Beginning at the Agassiz Fair Grounds, cyclists can pick up a map and head off on a culinary adventure to find home-grown quality food.

At both Brunch On The Farm and the Slow Food Cycle Tour, farmers dish out a “taste education” of real food to real people. During Brunch on The Farm, Limbert Mountain Farm will serve guests farm fresh herb infused cuisine, while Farm House Natural Cheeses will delight cheese lovers with uniquely sharp combinations. During the Slow Food Cycle, producers celebrate with food samplings and demonstrations to welcome more than 400 cyclists journeying the 95 per cent flat 30-kilometre (19-mile) landscape. Cycle participants will get the chance to experience farms not usually open to the public such as Cordine Farms, which will offer a rare glimpse into their dairy facilities, and Yangbing Farms which will share secrets of growing pea sprouts to would-be farm hands.
