R&B Brewing Co., in partnership with Salt Spring Coffee, is pleased to announce the launch of their newest beer, Spirit Chaser Coffee Porter.  R & B infuses this rich porter with direct trade coffee from the Aceh Gayo region of Indonesia to create this uniquely flavoured brew. A heady ale with a chocolate and roast coffee flavour, this beer is a wonderfully balanced drink and a proudly interesting addition to the R&B line up. Try this collaboration that spans from the jungles of Sumatra to the urban jungle of East Vancouver.

Deshutes Hop Trip – This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 680 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers’ farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to each 120 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.7 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

Sauvignon Blanc – This fresh and zingy new white wine is made from grapes sourced from one of the northernmost vineyards planted in Chile. This proximity to the coast makes the Elqui Valley a unique terroir. The result is a bright and expressive wine, showing minerals and refreshing citrus notes. The perfect aperitif is ideal with fish or shellfish.

Cabernet Sauvignon – A top quality Cab with rich ripe black fruit flavours and tremendous personality. Intense and unique. Excellent with rich red meats like lamb or beef, or something more exotic like venison.

Pacific Western Brewing is launching a new beer, the Cariboo Cream Ale! Legacy will be partying all day long and we want you to join us.

Starting at noon we’ll be firing up the burners in the kitchen and turning out some tasty treats using the Cariboo beers as ingredients. This cooking show will be filmed, and you are invited to come watch! Then at four o’clock we’ll be cracking cans of the brand new Cariboo Cream Ale (brewed with an authentic ale yeast that was specially selected to give the beer a distinct creamy note. The beer is darker than a typical cream ale because it uses specialty roasted malts that add more flavor as well. It is 5.5%, and you can enjoy it all year round with spicy Asian foods or pork dishes.) along side the professional mountain climbing, skateboard, ski and bike teams from Pacific Western brewery. They’ll be food and fun all afternoon long!

Enjoy three different beers from Erdinger: the Weibbier, a traditional Bavarian wheat beer brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, a Dunkel, with full bodied flavour resulting from fine hops and dark malt, and the Erdinger de-Alcoholized, for those still sticking to their New Years Resolution. Also being poured: the Fruli Strawberry Beer from Begium and the Stiegl, from Austria.

Wines

  • Howling Bluff Pinot Noir 2008 – This estate grown Pinot Noir coming from the Naramata Bench is a winner in this year’s Vancouver Magazine Wine Awards (Best Light Reds).  Hand picked and aged in French oak, this Pinot is full of cherry, strawberry and sage.
  • Calliope Sauvignon Blanc 2009 – The Wyse family, founders of Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, are pleased to introduce the first release of their new Calliope (ka-LIE-oh-pee) wine label – a 2009 Sauvignon Blanc. The freedom granted to the winemakers with the Calliope brand offers a chance to break from tradition and to express their creative talents with non-estate grapes vinified in small batches.
  • Caduceus Primer Paso 2007 – Have a TOOL fan in your life?  Then this wine, made by Maynard James Keenan, is for you.  Hand picked and aged in new French oak, this muscular Syrah is blended with Malvasia Bianca, which provides alluring aromatics.  Gift with purchase – A copy of Maynard’s new documentry Blood into Wine.

Beers

  • Howe Sound Brewing Megadestroyer Imperial Licorice Stout – This stout is strong and hearty, brewed in very limited quantities in recognition of the Alibi Room’s 200th beer list.  This unique beer is not for the faint-hearted.  Brewed with seven different barely malts, molasses, hops, water , yeast, licorice root and star anise it has an intense depth of roasted earthy flavours and licorice aromas.

  • Lost Coast Winterbraun – This ale is a richer, stronger version of Lost Coast’s signature beer, the Downtown Brown.  It’s specially brewed for the long winter months, with it’s full body and rich chocolate taste.

Spirits

  • Belvedere IX Vodka – Distilled with Guarana, Ginger, Ginseng, Acai, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon, Almond, Jasmine and Black Cherry these nine natural ingredients provide a memorable vodka experience!
  • G’Vine Gin de France – Distilled in small batches and crafted with 10 different botanicals, starring the rare vine flower.  Smooth, floral, warm and spicy.  Enjoy this gin with lime, kiwi, pineapple and champagne for an exotic treat.
  • Duncan Taylor Glencraig Scotch 1974 – This is bottle number 22 of 246, aged 32 years in oak casks.  In 1958 two Lomond stills were added to the Glenburgie distillery, which enabled the distillery to producte Glencraig single malt whisky.  The Lomond stills were removed from Glenburgie distillery in 1981, making this whisky the rarest of the rare.

 Sake

  • Yoshi No Gawa Goku-jo – Soft fruit flavours bursting with orange magnolia floral fragrance.  Rich, soft acid structure, long length.
  • Moonstone Asian Pear Sake – Ripe yellow pears with melon and apple notes.
  • Granville Island Osake Junmail Nama Nigori – An effervescent style, lightly piquante with a hint of natural sweetness.  Wonderful with spicier foods.
