BC’s Ovarian Cancer Research Team Event on Sept 24th 2013 launching her Fall/Winter 2013 Collection: “Collage”
Presented by Malene Grotrian Design and hosted at the Montauk Gallery in Gastown, this glamorous and fun fashion event features a cocktail reception with delicious canapés and wines, special guests from the OVCARE Team, live music and entertainment by DJ Leanne, a special silent auction of original art, and exciting luxury raffle prizes of jewelry, fashion, interior design, and travel. To highlight this special evening, the Malene Grotrian Fall/Winter 2013 Collection: “Collage” will be exclusively launched with a couture runway show featuring local celebrity models including Kate Gajdosik (Media Personality), Mannu Sandhu (Actress), Joti Samra (Media Personality) and Nikola Girke (OL Windsurfer). This fabulous night out brings together friends, valued sponsors, and over 200 guests to raise funds in support of Ovarian Cancer Research. Tickets available now: $125, $150 for VIP.
Why OVCARE? In March 2011, Malene Grotrian Design participated in the successful fundraising event for Ovarian Cancer Canada “Gala. Glam. Give”. The event was held at Birks flagship store and raised more than $120,000 for the cause. The main entertainment was a couture fashion show featuring local celebrity models. Malene Grotrian created custom designed gowns for these models including: Dawn Chubai, Vicki Gabereau, Jody Vance, Erin Cebula, Pamela Martin, Fanny Kiefer, Monica Deol, Ashleigh McIvor, Patricia Graham, Dianne Watts and more. We have continued to support the cause of Ovarian Cancer in a variety of ways over the years.
We are thrilled to bring this sponsorship full circle in support of OVCARE, as the featured charity of choice for our Fall/Winter 2013 Fashion Event. All proceeds from the Full Circle Fashion Event will be directed to OVCARE, Vancouver’s very own Ovarian cancer research team. This event is the first of its kind for OVCARE, and we are very proud to lead this charge.
The OVCARE Research Team is proudly supported by The UBC Faculty of Medicine, The BC Cancer Foundation and The VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation. The purpose of our Full Circle Fashion Event is to raise funds and local awareness in support of OVCARE and their ongoing commitment to research in Ovarian cancer, the most serious of all gynecologic cancers. In British Columbia, we have the best outcomes (survival rates) for Ovarian cancer in the world. But the sad fact remains: Ovarian cancer has a 75% mortality rate. Research is the only hope we have of saving the lives of women who are suffering with this disease.
Dr. Dianne Miller (Chair of BC’s provincial gynecologic tumor group) and the OVCARE Team have been at the forefront of Ovarian cancer research in their efforts to develop a screening test for the disease, develop improved treatment protocols and ultimately, to find a cure. OVCARE is leading the world with their B.C. policy in Ovarian cancer prevention, which has recently gained international support.
