✨ New & Noteworthy
Peya’s Aperitif Hour
Peya is a chic new restaurant that opened in March in Vancouver’s Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. They’re blending French culinary techniques with vibrant Indian flavours. Helmed by chef-owner Ashwani Dabas, Peya offers inventive share plates—like mussels in tomato rasam with naan and masala gougères—paired with playful cocktails and curated French wines.
Peya’s Aperitif Hour runs daily from 3 to 5 pm, featuring a playful, flavour-packed menu of small bites at wallet-friendly prices. Sample a rotating lineup of dishes—like masala gougères, rabbit liver mousse, and half-dozen fresh oysters—ideal for sharing or solo snacking. Chris Enns pours eight light, aperitif-style cocktails along with equally thoughtful mocktails, all presented with elegant glassware and charming garnishes. With added deals on beer and wine, it’s a beautifully curated happy hour that invites guests to unwind in Peya’s casually sophisticated space.

🍷 What to Sip
🍷 Hester Creek 2024 Columbia Valley Collection
Due to devasting frost damages many BC wineries suffered in 2024, Hester Creek turned to Washington’s Columbia Valley AVA—selecting premium grapes from White Bluffs, Goose Gap, Red Mountain, Horse Heaven Hills, and Ancient Lakes—to craft a collection of eight wines, all produced start to finish in-house.
🍾Sauvignon Blanc
Harvested from White Bluffs, this Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of gooseberry, lemon zest, and pink grapefruit, and a delicate herbal thread. The palate is bright and with tropical melon, citrus rind, and some fresh-cut grass. 12.7 % ABV | $19.99
🍾Viognier
Sourced from Goose Gap, this Viognier is a floral delight, opening with fragrant notes of ripe apricot, white peach, and tangerine peel. On the palate, it’s mouth-filling yet beautifully balanced, with lush stone fruit and citrus carried by a refreshing line of acidity that keeps it lively through the finish. 12.9 % ABV | $23.99
🍷Rosé Cabernet Franc
From Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills fruit, this deeply hued rosé charms with aromas of strawberry, cranberry, and pomegranate. The palate yields cherry and some savoury herbs lending complexity. A versatile rosé suited to both aperitif hour and heartier fare. 12 % ABV | ~$23

Inspired by Québec’s farm dining traditions, the four-course menu highlights local farmers, fishers, and foragers, and features classic Québécois dishes, Poirier’s own favourites, and recipes from his award-winning cookbook Where The River Narrows. “It’s about going back to the roots,” says Poirier, honoring both his heritage and the local bounty.
