Vancouver Golf Club’s Food and Beverage Team Expands

Vancouver Golf Club, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most historic and distinguished private golf clubs, recently relaunched its food and beverage program. In addition to hiring acclaimed chef Rob Feenie as Culinary Director and Chef-In-Residence, the members-only establishment has bolstered its team with several of Metro Vancouver’s most experienced hospitality professionals – including Food and Beverage Manager David Lew, Assistant General Manager Axel Flores, Bar Manager Justin Taylor, and Pastry Chef Wendy Boys.

“When we embarked on a multi-month renovation of our kitchen, our goal was to transform the club experience when it comes to food and beverage for our members,” says Brad Pinnell, General Manager, of Vancouver Golf Club. “To do this, we’ve recruited the best of the best – from front-of-house to the kitchen team. From the moment you step inside our club, our commitment is to provide a captivating culinary journey from start to finish.”

The new food and beverage team consists of:

Axel Flores, Assistant General Manager – A multi-lingual hospitality veteran, Flores is no stranger to the word “excellence” in customer service. He spent 27 years at Pan Pacific Hotel and another 12 at Four Seasons Vancouver.

David Lew, Food and Beverage Manager – A seasoned professional in the industry, Lew grew up in the industry, starting out at his parents’ East Vancouver restaurant. He spent more than 24 years with Four Seasons in Vancouver, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to Vancouver Golf Club.

Justin Taylor, Bar Manager – With more than 25 years behind the bar, Taylor has done it all – participating in cocktail competitions, representing brands around the world, and working at some of Vancouver’s most popular spots, including The Yew and Boulevard.

James Breuer, Executive Chef – As Executive Chef, Breuer leads the Vancouver Golf Club kitchen team, together with Chef Feenie. Breuer started out working in the front-of-house early in his hospitality career, before realizing his passion was in food. He spent 22 years at Cactus Club, overseeing the test kitchen, creating, and tasting many dishes along the way. His cooking philosophy is “We cook for the people, not a bill.”

Wendy Boys, Pastry Chef – One of Vancouver’s most talented pastry chefs, Boys has worked at many of the city’s illustrious restaurants, including with chef Feenie at Lumiere, as well as Cactus Club. A previous boutique chocolate company owner, Boys’ desserts are both beautiful and delicious – creating sweet finishes after a great meal.

Christine Chamness, Catering Manager – Chamness started out in the field of retail, honing her customer service skills for more than 12 years, before joining the hospitality sector in 2004 at Four Seasons Vancouver. Her work ethic, big heart, passion for planning and impeccable details have led to amazing events at Vancouver Golf Club.

Lisa Bradbury, Assistant Food & Beverage Manager – A long-time member of the Vancouver Golf Club team, Bradbury knows the ins and outs of the club, having worn many hats since 2000, from banquet server, bevy cart server, to deli attendant. She leads by example and believes wholeheartedly in teamwork.

Reagan Neis, Clubhouse Services Manager – Drawing on her extensive background in the film and television industry, Neis brings to Vancouver Golf Club valuable expertise in business and customer service. As the Clubhouse Services Manager, Neis is responsible for creating a seamless and exceptional private club experience for its members.

Jad Elkhatib, Assistant Clubhouse Services Manager – Elkhatib’s career has spanned several sectors and industries – from owning his own business to retail management. He joined Vancouver Golf Club in 1995 and worked his way up from Deli & Steward Attendant to now Assistant Clubhouse Services Manager – putting to work his great depth and diverse experience.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have such a solid team throughout the whole club,” adds Pinnell. “We look forward to creating even more new food and beverage experiences in the future.”
