Vancouver’s CRU Restaurant Announces Closure

Vancouver’s Cru Restaurant will close its doors at the end of June.  The restaurant’s last night of service will be Saturday, June 30th2012.  Cru’s owner, Mark Taylor, plans to reopen the restaurant at a different location at some point in the future.

Since opening in 2003 the restaurant earned numerous awards both for its innovative Pacific Northwest menu and for its outstanding wine program. Taylor made the decision to close the award-winning restaurant for a number of reasons.  From a professional standpoint, he wants to focus his energies on his casual restaurant Siena, which recently opened at 12th and Granville.  He also has personal reasons for wanting to spend his time wisely:  Taylor and his fiancé Danna Rutherford have a new baby girl, and the couple is planning a September wedding.  After he returns from his European honeymoon, Taylor says, he will consider reopening Cru in a new location.

Mark wants to thank the many guests who visited Cru during its highly successful run.  From the opening month, Cru became a critical favourite and has built a devoted following among local residents. “It’s been our honour and great pleasure to serve the neighbourhood as well as visitors to Vancouver over the past nine years. All of us at Cru are very proud of what we have achieved together”, Taylor says, “It’s been a fun run”.

Friends and fans of Cru are encouraged to join Mark Taylor and his staff for one last dining experience during the month of June.
