Interior Design Show Vancouver 2023 Consumer Day Programming
Interior Design Show Vancouver (IDS Vancouver) is the Pacific Northwest platform for all things design and the premier showcase of new products and furniture, superstar designers, and avant-garde concepts from North America and beyond, will return to the Vancouver Convention Centre West from September 21 – 24. We checked out a few of the installations as they were just opening.
Presented by Miele, IDS Vancouver’s 2023 theme, Moving Parts, will explore how contemporary designers are creating, sourcing, producing, and distributing products in this new landscape. The Consumer Day programming will take place September 23-24, featuring industry-leading keynote speakers and experiential features.
“We’re thrilled to have curated a diverse mix of design discussions and features as part of this year’s Consumer Day programming,” said Bronwyn Gourley, IDS Vancouver – Director of Conference. “This year’s show theme, Moving Parts, will highlight innovative and sustainable thinking in this ever-changing design world.”

House & Home Saturday
Kicking off the House & Home Saturday Design Talk Series on September 23 on the Caesarstone Stage, President of House & Home Media, Lynda Reeves, will be joined by interior designer, Aly Velji for Global Vibes: The Newest Look in Layered Rooms. The discussion will explore how Aly creates rooms inspired by his rich cultural heritage, his unique lens as a Calgary-based designer and his fabulous furniture collection for Urban Barn.
The second talk in the series will offer tips from the pros during the Modern Comfort speakers panel, moderated by Lynda Reeves and featuring House and Home deputy editor Emma Reddington with Christi Rivard and Kyla Bidgood, who will discuss how sleek, modern interiors can also be places of comfort and high style.
Western Living Sunday
Western Living Sunday on the Caesarstone Stage will begin on September 24 with a panel discussion led by Alyssa Hirose of Western Living Magazine. She will be joined by artists Maynard Johnny Jr. and Sandeep Johal and art consultant Anita Cirillo of Gallery Jones in a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring the fascinating Intersection of Art and Design. They’ll delve deep into the dynamic relationship between these two disciplines and how they mutually influence and inspire each other. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how artists and designers collaborate and blur the boundaries between creativity and functionality.
On Sunday afternoon, award-winning interior designers, Chad Falkenberg and Kelly Reynolds of Falken Reynolds, take the stage with Nancy Bendsten of Inform Interiors and Anicka Quinn of Western Living Magazine for an informative discussion on Creating Holistic Endurance: The Intersection of Visual Beauty, Utility, and Quality in Design. The talk will emphasize the significance of creating spaces that not only capture our imaginations but also provide a sense of comfort, functionality, and long-lasting craftsmanship.
IDS FEATURES
Throughout IDS Vancouver, attendees will have the opportunity to explore experiential installations, created by the industry’s leading designers and creators. A full list of features can be found here.
Entrance feature by Obakki
Highlighting the launch of the IDS x Obakki Design Incubator Program, this unique, multi-sensory installation will feature products from Montreal-based Cyrc., a brand known for their functional home objects created from recycled plastic waste. The entry feature will bring together two coexisting worlds (natural & human designed) into a shared space to explore their interrelation and the impact of human-centric design on the natural world.
The Modern Prefab
The Modern Prefab feature at IDS Vancouver 2023 will highlight elevated design in a small footprint. The platform for all things design has invited the top players in the prefab and tiny home industry in The Pacific Northwest to showcase their work. This new feature installation at IDS Vancouver will be a key space at this year’s event and will offer the IDS audience an experiential feature to visit.
EQ3 Lounge
EQ3 will present the Opening Night Party at IDS Vancouver and will launch their new BIRD collection at the EQ3 Lounge on-site in September. The Bird collection is a first-of-its-kind for EQ3, offering multi-dimensional comfort with a predominantly foam construction. Inspired by the late 70s, this collection models an abstract profile of a bird. With relaxed edges, generous seat depth, and a highly modular design, Bird was created to suit any space. It’s timeless, just as we believe it should be.
Prototype Finalists
The Prototype design competition is a platform within Studio North, featuring products not currently in production and addressing new ideas for the residential market. IDS is thrilled to announce the Prototype finalists who will make their 2023 debut this fall.
