What’s Good This Week January 17th Edition

January To Do’s Around Vancouver

While we wait to hear what the next wave of this pandemic will bring, there is still some safe fun to be had.  We did some Dine Out Vancouver last week and are planning on venturing out a few more times more, but cooking at home is really appealing for me, as the cookbooks I am working on are so damn awesome and I want to make so many recipes in many of them. Here are some things to keep you out of trouble including Street Food City, Cookbooks, The Hot Chocolate Festival, Dinner at CinCin, and more.

rainy day bites cookbook club

Rainy Day Bites Cookbook Club

The first Instagram Cookbook Club was out of Seattle, created from Deborah Balint – The Rainy Day Bites Cookbook Club. This month the club is cooking from Italian American, a cookbook from the couple behind New York’s acclaimed Don Angie restaurant, Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli. I made the Sicilian Pizza Rolls last night and they were exceptionally good. Puff pastry wrapped around a delicious homemade sauce and salami and cheese. I’m now thinking of all the things I could stuff in these. Next up are any of the Meatballs, there’s a whole chapter on them including Broccoli and Farro, Eggplant, Spiced Lamb and Shrimp Parm. I suggest you join in! The Club is also baking from Life is What You Bake It by Vallery Lomas, but I have yet to receive that book, so will expand on this treasure then.

Sicilian Pizza Rolls

My Sicilian Pizza Rolls may just smell too good to take the time to do any sort of food styling once they’re out of the over!  Sometimes I’m more interested in getting a meal on the table, getting the dishes done and crawling into bed at a decent hour. See above for the Cookbook Club Queen, Deborah Balint’s version – that woman has mad food styling skills!
