What’s Good This Week – June 15 Edition

A Few Events We Recommend In and Around Vancouver – What’s Good

Well it’s been a busy couple months for us and I finally feel I am getting somewhat caught up after the wedding, but then I find a whole lot of other things I want to do! I’ve been trying to stay home more, and get our home together as it’s a bit of a disaster lately. It’s never dirty, but there’s lots of stuff around that I just can’t seem to get rid of. Good news is that there’s a Les Dames d’Escoffier Culinary Garage Sale coming up in September, so that should help me  declutter! In any case, here’s a couple things we recommend in our What’s Good weekly post, a few of which we’ll be at. There will also be another one for Father’s Day suggestions shortly.

Bard On The Beach – Much Ado About Nothing June 1 – September 23

We’re off to this tonight for the opening. Will have to dress very warm, so much for our weather! I’m reading ahead and they’ll be no wine for me before this as I always get lost in the plots if I don’t have my wits about me. Always tricky stuff and I’m easily confused! The plot? It’s Italy in 1959, and a group of actors and filmmakers are celebrating the wrap of their latest movie. Movie stars Beatrice and Benedick are drawn to each other but refuse to admit it, and Hero and Claudio’s marriage plans are about to be sabotaged by a journalist’s mean-spirited scheme. Cue the paparazzi, then a faked death, and la dolce vita threatens to become not so sweet; but with a script full of surprises, love can still triumph before the credits roll. Excited to see this one!

project empty bowlProject Empty Bowl Thursday June 15, 2017 at 6:30pm

Since its inception in the early 1990’s Project Empty Bowl has fed thousands of individuals with HIV/AIDS locally and tens of thousands globally. It began when John Harton, a teacher in Bloomfield, MT, asked his high school ceramic students to make enough bowls to give a luncheon for the school staff. For $5 each, the guests received a simple meal of soup and bread, served in one of the handmade bowls. The money raised was donated to the local food bank.  Tickets.
