What to do Around Vancouver This Week
It’s now December and I can’t believe how fast the year has zipped by! I’m already sick of the weather, so I’m heading to sunnier skies on Sunday and off to Palm Springs. In the meantime I’ve got a few things to do before I go including Vancouver Theatre Sports annual Christmas Queen, the opening of Lumiere in the West End, and a couple classes at The Dailey Method in an attempt to look a little better in my short sleeved tops. Here’s some suggestions for you this week!
Christmas Queen 4 – Secret Santa
We just saw this and it’s once again hilarious! The Christmas Queen, in all her nasty, bitchy glory returns this holiday season with the latest installment in the series, Christmas Queen 4 – Secret Santa. The previous three editions of Christmas Queen saw HRM (Her Royal Meanness) hilariously thwarted in her attempts to ruin Christmas. This year is no exception. Confusion and hijinks ensue when the Queen and Santa exchange bodies in a Freaky Friday-style magical sleight- of-hand. No two shows are ever the same thanks to the unpredictable nature of the suggestions and the creative talents of the players. To see ticket prices, click here.

Lumiere
Stroll through downtown Vancouver and experience Lumiere! Lighting up Vancouver’s iconic West End, English Bay and Jim Deva Plaza come alive this December with a series of light art installations, performances and community building initiatives.
Gotham Steak House Social Hour
The iconic lounge at Gotham Steakhouse is an ideal setting for celebrating the holidays in style, with live music five nights a week, a DJ to get things moving during the weekday Social Hour, and a world-class wine list and cocktail program to add holiday cheer. On weekdays, a DJ is on hand from 3:00pm – 6:45pm to set the mood with old school tracks on vinyl from deep soul to jazz favourites. From Tuesday to Saturday, Gotham presents outstanding jazz and pop artists from 7:00pm – 11:00pm, warming up the room like only live music can.
From 3-6pm Monday to Friday, Gotham offers a special Social Hour Menu which includes iconic Gotham favourites like Prime beef sliders, fresh shucked oysters, and Portobello mushroom fries. And if the special pricing on craft cocktails, select wine and local beers isn’t tempting enough, every celebration will be elevated by taking 40% off all champagne.
Vancouver Foodster’s Holiday Market
A delicious night of sampling at several markets around the city while strolling through a few neighborhoods from South Granville, to False Creek and Kitsilano. This evening tasting extravaganza is on Wednesday December 6 from 5pm until 9pm and is presented by Vancouver Foodster. Register at Milano Coffee Roasters at 156 W 8th Avenue.
