Whistler Search and Rescue Society Holds Their Tenth Annual “Wine’d Up” Gourmet Dinner & Auction

Whistler Search and Rescue Society is holding its tenth annual fundraising gourmet dinner and auction – “Wine’d Up” – on October 17th, 2009.

Guests at this winemaker’s gourmet dinner and auction will enjoy an evening of outstanding food and wine while supporting the critically important work of Whistler’s search and rescue volunteers.

Organizers are delighted to welcome the return of five of Whistler’s renowned Executive Chefs:
• Chef Vincent Stufano, Fairmont Chateau Whistler
• Chef Scott Dolbee, Four Seasons Resort Whistler
• Chef Grant Cousar, Whistler Cooks & Catering
• Chef Steve Bjormark, Whistler Blackcomb
• Chef James Walt, Araxi Restaurant

Each chef will create a dish with flavours to complement and enhance the selection of fine wines that will be poured with each course. The wines for this year’s dinner are being generously donated by Kendall-Jackson Winery who has selected the following wines:
Reception Wine – Kendall-Jackson Vintners Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
First Course – Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Chardonnay
Second Course – Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Pinot Noir
Third Course – Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Dessert – Kendall-Jackson Late Harvest Chardonnay
In addition to sensory delights of food and wine, the event will offer guests a chance to participate in both live and silent auctions throughout the evening. The auctions will include such items as original artwork from leading B.C. artists Cameron Bird and David Langevin, Whistler Mountaineer train trips, Helijet flights, float plane trips, sports memorabilia, golf, hotel and restaurant gift certificates and much more.
The evening is truly a community effort. Whistler-Blackcomb generously supports this event each year by donating their facilities and staff at Dusty’s Bar & Grill in Whistler Creekside. Whistler Search and Rescue volunteer their time at the dinner and auction, in both the kitchen and ‘front of house’.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Whistler Search and Rescue Society, a registered charity which relies upon donations and sponsorships as well as community support of events such as the Wine’d Up gala. Dollars raised go towards operating and capital expenditures such as equipment, supplies and training of their volunteer members. Since its inception in 2000, the gala dinner has raised more that $200,000 for Whistler Search and Rescue Society.
Tickets are $150 plus GST and are sold through Whistler Blackcomb – 1-800 766 0449. Suggested attire for this event is smart western gear / smart casual.
