Good fun, good wine, good cause: BC wineries go to the dogs

Eight B.C. wineries join forces to support PADS (Pacific Assistance Dogs Society) and its good work with a wine tasting and silent auction at SIT STAY SIP June 13.

Broadcast personality Terry David Mulligan will guide wine lovers through the evening as they taste amazing wines, bid on incredible auction items and indulge in delicious hors d’oeuvres catered by the chefs at the Stanley Park Pavilion.

In addition to wine, food and auction items, those participating will get to cheer on a puppy parade and meet Canada’s first Trauma K9, Caber, who is based in Delta, B.C. Early arrivals will see a live demonstration of skilled PADS dogs.

  • · When | Thursday, June 13, 2013
    · Time | 6:30 – 8:30 PM
    · Place | Stanley Park Pavilion
    · Tickets | $39.00 + tax for a feel-good evening of fun + good taste

PADS Puppy Parade

Every litter of PADS puppies has a theme. Some of the 15-week-old Wine Litter puppies–Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Bacchus, Gamay, Verdot, Pinot and Grigio–will join together on June 13 and parade for the audience’s pleasure.

PADS Demonstration

PADS dogs make a difference and help improve people’s lives. For media’s convenience, a live PADS demonstration at 6:15 PM, prior to the start of the tasting will show off the skills, intelligence and good nature these dogs possess and put to good use–daily.

Caber, Canada’s First Trauma K9

Caber, Canada’s first Trauma K9, works within a victim services setting, with Delta Police’s Victim Services Coordinator Kim Gramlich close at hand: “He’s my partner,” she said. “He’s with me 24 hours a day, comes to work with me in the morning and goes home with me at the end of the day.” Caber is deployed to respond to victims and witnesses of crime, in a variety of settings and with varying needs. In his first 2.5 years on the job, Caber has helped more than 500 victims, adults and children. “He’s responded to domestic violence, sudden death, arson, child sexual assaults. All kinds of crime types and traumatic events,” said Gramlich.
