This looks like an interesting event coming up this week; tasty and entertaining. GLV
Winner Winner, Ken Tsui and Rain City Chronicles are teaming up in a new culinary partnership, and on November 21st and 22nd, you’re invited to experience Cafeteria.
With Templeton High built in 1927 and Strathcona Elementary in 1921, this event will transform their historic cafeterias into a playful food experience that finds inspiration in deliciously elevating the most nostalgic school cafeteria flavours. In partnering with Rain City Chronicles and their show series Tales from Public School, Cafeteria serves as an introduction to Vancouver premier storytelling evening in the form of a meal. Cafeteria is a walk-up, over-the-counter affair and closes up once they sell out, so don’t delay!
Winner Winner is a collective consisting of three seasoned restaurant industry professionals; Chen-Wei Lee, Stan Yung and Alain Chow. They made their debut together this past summer at the Vancouver Chinatown Night Market, dishing out an unforgettably, fine-tuned Singaporean chicken rice. Ken Tsui has developed as pop-up producer in Vancouver’s fabled underground culinary circuit. His innovative interpretations of traditional cuisine, drawn from sources so fresh they were harvested that morning, are served in settings of casual warmth and playfulness.
In the spirit of Rain City Chronicles, Cafeteria is focused on telling a story through food. From shepherd’s pie, the sloppy joe, macaroni and cheese, cafeteria rolls, pudding cups, grape drink to the much celebrated “Pizza Fridays” of our youth, celebrated Vancouver chefs will serve up dinner – lunch lady style with a menu of four distinctive re-intepretations of the classics. Casual, fun, and priced for any wallet, Cafeteria seeks to inspire diners to tell a childhood story of their own.
Eat-in, meet some friends, hang out – Cafeteria is the place to be before and after the show. A place where every table is the cool kids table.
