Diva at the Met is offering a week-long opportunity to thank dad this Father’s Day. Featuring the food of Chef Quang Dang and ales of R&B Brewing, the restaurant will present a five-course brewmaster’s dinner on Saturday, June 18, as well as a three-course, beer-paired tasting menu offered for five nights. The Metropolitan Hotel will offer a special “Brew-haha Break” package combining dinner with an overnight stay.

“Beer pairs really well with food, but all too often it’s overshadowed by wine,” said Diva at the Met’s Chef Quang Dang. “This is a fun way to show the versatility of some of Vancouver’s local brews and how well they complement our regional cuisine. Whether it’s Mom taking Dad out, or adult kids treating Dad to something special on Father’s Day, we think this will appeal to those looking for a great way to celebrate the occasion.”

The brewmaster’s dinner will start at 6:30pm and is priced at $65 per person (plus taxes and gratuity) for the five course menu and all beer pairings. The unique dinner will feature one of R&B’s brewmasters visiting individual tables to educated participants and allow for a one-on-one question and answer experience as they taste their way through Chef Dang’s specially-created menu. The five-course menu for the evening is as follows:

rare seared albacore tuna

white gazpacho, green almonds, lemon essence

Paired with R&B Sun God Wheat Ale

~

spring beet salad & Oyama speck

fresh goat cheese, smoked tea emulsion

Paired with R&B Bohemian Lager

~

grilled Fraser Valley quail

watercress, pork belly & lentil vinaigrette

Paired with R&B Red Devil Pale Ale

~

grilled AAA beef rib eye

braised brisket, bone marrow croquette

morel mushroom jus

Paired with R&B Dark Stout

~

dark chocolate

Paired with R&B East Side Bitter
From Tuesday, June 14 through to Friday, June 17, and on Sunday, June 19, Diva at the Met will offer a three-course version of the menu, also paired with R&B Brewing’s ales, for $45 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Guest will have a choice between the rare seared albacore tuna or the spring beet salad to start, and the grilled Fraser Valley quail or grilled AAA beef rib eye for their main course.

Reservations for both the R&B brewmaster’s dinner and for the menu offered throughout the week can be made by calling 604.602.7788 or through the restaurant’s website.

The “Brew-haha Break” package is available from Tuesday, June 14 through to Sunday, June 19, and includes an overnight stay at the Metropolitan Hotel Vancouver, the beer-paired tasting menu at Diva at the Met (five course brewmaster’s dinner on June 18, three-course menu on other nights), complimentary valet parking, and an R&B Brewing gift in the room. The package starts at $345 plus applicable taxes and can be booked online or by calling 1-800-667-2300.

This year marks Diva at the Met’s 15th anniversary. In recognition of the occasion and the restaurant’s influential role in Vancouver’s culinary progression, the Div[a]ine Evolution event was held on March 10, 2011, bringing back all of the restaurant’s former executive chefs for a dinner to celebrate Diva at the Met’s culinary journey, and the impact Diva has had on the city’s dining scene through mentoring a generation of young chefs.
