News from Wild Goose Winery #BCWine

It has been a long time coming, but I can assure you that the wait will be well worth it! We have now released the 2010 vintage of white wines. Although the overall vintage is down in size, the quality is outstanding! Despite the challenges that we all faced with the 2010 growing season, the adjustments we made in the vineyards to crop size paid off in a big way. Winemaker Hagen Kruger said, “with the beautiful September and October that Mother Nature gave us, it made up for any short falls that we suffered earlier in the year, the fruit concentration is unbelievable with this vintage! The natural acids of the 2010 vintage give a lovely back bone to the wines making them some of the best wines we have seen from the Okanagan in years”

The new releases include:

• God’s Mountain Riesling
• Riesling “Classic”
• Mystic River Pinot Blanc
• Blanc de Noirs(limited release)
• Gewurztraminer
• Mystic River Gewurztraminer(very limited release)
• Pinot Gris(June release)
• Autumn Gold (June release)
• Stoney Slope Riesling
• Botrytis Affected Riesling(BA)(June Release)
• Total Botrytis Affected Riesling(TBA) (June Release)

Screw The Cork?

It was bound to happen sooner or later. After dabbling with screw caps for many years, Wild Goose bottled its entire 2010 white wines under screw cap. Though it was not an easy decision, we jumped full bore into the project. With the positive response from the consumer and media that we have been having recently towards screw caps, the decision was made and no cork pullers will be needed for our 2010 whites! We are still using natural corks on our red wines and a decision will be made next spring as to whether or not our 2010 reds will be” screwed or corked!” We will keep you posted!

New Vintage….New Label!

It has been ten years since we made any changes to our label, and since we were making changes to our closures, we thought, “why not do a little fine tuning on our label?”  With some help from a graphic designer, our label has been slightly “freshened” up, giving the entire label a bright, fresh, and clean look!
