Vancouver diners can now experience Michelin-starred Burdock & Co without committing to the restaurant’s full tasting menu.
Chef-owner Andrea Carlson has introduced a new à la carte bar menu, bringing some of the relaxed neighbourhood spirit of Burdock & Co’s early years back to its Main Street dining room.
Available exclusively at the bar on a walk-in basis, the menu features Carlson’s personal favourites, seasonal dishes and playful snacks designed for a more spontaneous evening out.
Guests can drop in for Burdock’s popular buttermilk fried chicken, chilled sesame udon and ramen fries, paired with small-production, terroir-driven wines selected by wine director Maisie Ryan.
Summer dishes include fig-sap ricotta with Lillooet honey and sourdough toast, celebration salad with lemon verbena vinaigrette and an uni gelato sandwich served on a nori biscuit.

Burdock & Co originally opened in 2013 as a neighbourhood restaurant centred around shared plates. During the pandemic, it transitioned to a tasting-menu format, giving Carlson more room to explore the restaurant’s hyper-local, micro-seasonal approach.
The new bar menu offers a more casual alternative while maintaining the creativity and attention to detail found in Burdock’s moon-inspired tasting menus.
Led by Carlson, Burdock & Co was the first female chef-owned restaurant in Canada to receive a Michelin star and has retained the distinction for four consecutive years.
Gobo in the Garden Brings Yakitori and Vinyl to the Patio
The relaxed atmosphere will continue outside this summer with Gobo in the Garden, a series of Sunday patio parties hosted with sister restaurant Bar Gobo.
Every other Sunday, Burdock’s street-side garden will feature yakitori prepared by chef Kyumin Kim, low-intervention wines by the glass and bottle, and DJs from Bar Gobo spinning vinyl among the patio’s flowers and greenery.
The menu will include assorted grilled meat skewers alongside playful selections such as grilled mochi and cheese.

Burdock & Co Welcomes Passage for August Collaboration Dinner
Burdock & Co will also welcome chef Johnny Spero of Passage at The Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island for a special Salty Magazine Dinner Series collaboration on Tuesday, August 11.
O’Rourke Family Estate and Peak Cellars have been announced as the official wine partners for the dinner.
Recently opened in Lake Country, O’Rourke Family Estate is one of the Okanagan’s most ambitious new wine destinations. Designed by architect John Taft, the property combines contemporary architecture, working vineyards, raw granite and an underground network of caves.
The winery focuses on elegant, age-worthy Pinot Noir and Chardonnay shaped by Lake Country’s cool climate and glacial and granite-influenced soils. Fruit is harvested by hand, with a restrained cellar approach intended to preserve freshness, varietal character and a sense of place.
Sister winery Peak Cellars offers a complementary, natural-leaning expression of the region through small-lot production, native fermentation and minimal intervention. Its portfolio includes mineral-driven Riesling, expressive rosé and cool-climate red wines.
Optional wine and non-alcoholic pairings will be available with the dinner.
