On Sunday November 1, Chef Michel Jacob was awarded Officer in the Ordre du Mérite agricole of the French Republic for his special merits regarding the French gastronomy, by Philippe Sutter, Consul General of France in Vancouver. Since 1983, Michel Jacob has showcased the best of French cuisine, using both French and West coast ingredients, to serve France’s and Alsace’s classics. A hall mark of unswerving consistency and a testament to customer loyalty that best defines his success.

Le Crocodile remains one of the city’s most acclaimed and visited restaurants, both for the public personalities and with the same dedication for the average Jane and Joe, or rather, “Jeanne and Jean”, being a pillar to the French community too.

Further to being an Ambassador for French gastronomy, Michel Jacob has also been a mentor to some of the city’s best-known Chefs. Ocean Wise’s Ned Bell once said: “Getting my apprenticeship at Le Crocodile was like going to Harvard”. Many restaurant critiques and culinary connoisseurs have also and continuously highlighted how instrumental he has been for the culinary scene in Vancouver.
“To this Ambassador of the art eating, we say “merci”!” cheered Philippe Sutter.
