Cornucopia Weekend November 11-13

Saturday, November 12 – Drink Seminar Concrete Beliefs: Wood-Free Wines with DJ Kearney

There’s no question that wood barrels impart their own flavours to wine when they’re used as vessels in the fermentation process. Winemakers have capitalized on the phenomenon for centuries. But wood sometimes drowns out the grapes’ character, obscuring true expression, nuance, and sense of place. Concrete tanks provide a fascinating alternative that allows for the full voice of both grape and place, without the interference of oak. Join veteran presenter DJ Kearney for this engaging and enlightening seminar featuring the wood-free wines of the Haywire Collection.  Haywire is made at Okanagan Crush Pad winery, which possesses one of the largest assemblage of concrete vessels in North America. Guests will taste Chardonnay, Gamay, Gamay Rosé, Pinot Noir and traditional method sparkling wines to understand the beauty and purity of wines raised in concrete.

Wines featured at this Cornucopia seminar:

– Haywire The Bub 2017
– Haywire Vintage Bub 2014
– Haywire Garnet Valley Ranch Chardonnay
– Haywire Switchback Pinot Gris 2020
– Haywire Switchback Pinot Gris 2021
– Haywire Gamay Rosé
– Haywire Secrest Mountain Gamay
– Haywire Garnet Valley Ranch Pinot Noir

This event is sponsored by Okanagan Crush Pad
