Dinner by Starlight has quickly become one of the most sought after events in Vancouver. Every year, Vancouver’s culinary magician Vikram Vij, prepares a one-time-only meal in honour of a special guest at the Indian Summer Festival.
Past dinners have included a five course ‘Nawabi’ banquet in honour of Bollywood legend Sharmila Tagore, and a BC-India fusion meal designed by Vikram Vij and India’s biggest celebrity chef, Sanjeev Kapoor. This year, the guests of honour are the legendary Dabbawalas of Mumbai, as immortalized in the film ‘Lunchbox’. Every day, 5000 Dabbawalas deliver 350,000 lunches on time, error-free in the exploding megapolis of Mumbai. Richard Branson has ridden with them on Mumbai’s crowded trains to see their magic up close, and the Dabbawalas were the only guests from India (apart from the Prime Minister) to be invited to Prince Charles’ wedding to Camilla Parker-Bowles.
On their first visit to Vancouver, they share some of their funniest stories with dinner guests, and Vikram Vij cooks a Dabba (lunchbox) inspired meal in their honour. This is food from the heart of India, in the presence of the incredible human spirit that makes India tick. What could be better?
Only 150 special guests will experience this evening at a secret location, to be revealed only to ticket holders. Please note – tickets to this event are highly sought after and sell out quickly!
Tickets include an enchanting evening of entertainment, inclusive of drinks and a 4-course meal prepared by Vikram Vij and his team. When purchasing tickets, please advise is you have any dietary requirements (vegetarian/vegan) or allergies.
