Bearfoot Bistro to play host to the garden party of the season

Oyster shuckers, bartenders and mixologists from around the globe will descend upon Whistler June 29 to compete  in the 4th Annual Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational & Bloody Caesar Battle.

The $5,000 prize—courtesy of Sawmill Bay Shellfish Company, and the largest purse for any oyster-shucking contest—will be awarded to the competitor who produces the best 30 shucked oysters against the clock. Scores will be awarded based on a combination of shucking time and appearance of the finished oysters, with marks deducted for infractions, including shell shards, grit, broken shell cups or cut oyster meat.

The Bearfoot Bistro Bloody Caesar Battle, presented by Ketel One Vodka, also boasts a $5,000 cash prize, awarded to the bartender who creates the best Caesar on the day, based on taste, presentation and originality.
The popularity of the event has grown year-on-year, with demand exceeding the restaurant’s capacity. In order to accommodate more guests, this year’s event will be held just across the street from the Bearfoot Bistro, on the grounds of the Whistler Golf Club Practice Range.

All-inclusive tickets for the garden party of the season are $75.
