Chefs Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme Launch Second Northern Italian Restaurant

The hotly anticipated La Pentola della Quercia opens its doors this week at OPUS Hotel Vancouver, bringing the Northern Italian fare that has kept foodies wanting more from Chefs Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme. With their new 88-seat venture in Yaletown, the chefs do not disappoint, now bringing their skills to breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night daily.

Continuing the tradition from their first restaurant, La Quercia, meals at La Pentola can be shared family style or ordered à la carte. The chefs’ taste for traditional cuisine is clearly seen in La Pentola’s menu, which features as primi, artfully crafted, handmade pastas such as kale and ricotta pansotti drizzled and tossed in a walnut sauce, polenta gnocchi cheese fondue garnished with wild mushrooms; and porchetta tortellini sautéed in sage brown butter. Locally-sourced meat and fish form the cornerstone of the menu’s regional nose-to-tail secondi, with choices as diverse as lightly breaded veal milanese with roasted potato, ossobucco paired with Roman gnocchi, trout involtini served with zucchini trifolati, and an authentic bistecca alla fiorentina for two.

Guests joining for lunch can expect selections inspired by the dinner menu in addition to lighter fare including paninis. Breakfast, stays true to Northern Italy, with white beans, poached eggs and sausage as well as crespelles topped with seasonal berries and heavy cream.

Truly a meeting of two worlds, guests at La Pentola enjoy a freshly reimagined space that marries rustic Italian design with a casual West Coast sensibility. The space’s hallmark Italian mosaic floor has been refurbished, its stark beauty reflected in the white, wood-panelled walls. These classic elements are offset by an infusion of contemporary sophistication in the form of chocolate leather chairs, deep red banquettes, and modernist copper light fixtures.
